I made a stupid mistake to replace the hds with 1tb drives, and used its 500gb drives for raid 5 enclosure, it won't boot with new drives and original drives were already formated. For [.].

This NAS is useless; cannot access from internet through http/s; it's noisy. bucks and hours of troubles.
I now can access all my data from internet, backup up to 10 PCs, and a lot of features. OS installed on the hd, so you cannot swap drives with bigger ones.

So its a matter of choosing my data or a replacement drive. Iomega was willing to replace the drive as long as I did not attempt to recover the data (by placing the individual drives in a computer). I don't think it is a valid choice. I set the box for mirroring. My drive failed within the warranty period.

It's a little loud and it requires a password to log into the drive, even if you don't want to use one.Each time one of my systems is rebooted, I have to access the drive again with a userid/password. Great product--sets up easily and performs well, with a reasonably small footprint. The access control would work great for shared storage with multiple users and a need for privacy. That userid/password does not have to be used again until the next reboot, but it is annoying to have to use one.I should say that I have a home LAN with a very limited user population--I am really the only one really using the server. Mirroring works great. Only two nit dislikes.
The web interface is clunky and sparse. Support on the device is horrible. The types of speeds are you seeing are common for the environment you are working in. If you're only looking for basic NAS functionality, then this unit will do the job. The Gigabit speed is only the the theorhetical speed and in reality, speeds such as you are getting are common for a gigabit connection with this device."In other words, 130 MBps is about all you will get out of the unit by design. Don't expect to get more than 130Mbps, not 1000Mbps.4. I'm going to leave my rating at 3 stars, since it's a reasonable amount of mirrored storage for the price, but I doubt I'll be shopping IOMEGA in the future.

A lot of space is chewed up by the system. There is also a sparse amount of documentation and no revised firmware.That said, if you're looking to back up a bunch of stuff at home and want a very basic device to do it, then this will be OK.
However, don't be surprised by the following:1. I tried working with them to get the network speed issue figured out, and they were terrible. Gigabit is in name only. There aren't many functions to use or settings to change. For the pair of 500GB drives, I have them in Raid 1 (mirrored) and have only 454GB available.3.
